How to choose kitchen chimneys
A good chimney keeps oil, smoke and odour out of your kitchen. Two numbers matter most: the size and the suction power. A 60 cm chimney suits a 2–4 burner hob, and a 90 cm chimney is the usual match for 5 burners or a wide hob. For everyday Indian cooking with frying and tadka, look for suction of about 1000 m³/hr or more; a longer duct run or a high-rise flat may call for more.
Then choose the filter. Baffle filters trap grease and can be washed, filterless chimneys use a high-speed motor to separate oil and need less cleaning, and mesh filters are the budget option. Auto-clean models heat the oil off for you, which saves time but costs more.
Wall-mounted, island and built-in designs are available. Tell us your hob size, the duct distance and your cooking style and we will recommend a chimney that fits.
