How to choose inverters & batteries

To size an inverter, add up the wattage of what you want to run during a power cut (fans, lights, TV, router) and choose a rating (in VA) comfortably above it. A 900–1100 VA inverter covers a typical flat; larger homes need more.

Backup time depends on the battery. As a rough rule, battery capacity (Ah) × 12 V × about 0.7 usable, divided by your load in watts, gives hours of backup. Tubular batteries are the standard choice for long, deep discharge; lithium batteries cost more but are lighter, need no water top-ups and last longer.

Pair the inverter and battery sensibly and keep them in a ventilated spot. Share your load with us and we will suggest a combination and explain warranty and maintenance.
